Virtual Learning with Your Dog

Virtual learning

Virtual learning is for everyone! Through the technology we have right at our fingertips like video calls, messaging, and a video camera on our phones this makes learning and training with us possible no matter where you are in the world. Here’s a couple hints I’ve learned through years of virtual learning:

A tripod is a game changer! We recommend all of our clients record each session so they can easily send clips to us if they need additional support. Here are couple we recommend for your phone option 1 option 2 option 3

Space! Make sure it’s well lit, you have room to move, and we can see your dog clearly. Before sessions, remove anything that might be distracting like extra toys, bowls, treat bags within your dog’s reach, and other items that don’t need to be there.

Test and set up ahead of time! Check the audio and video set up, make a notation where you need to set your camera up, and set a timer to get into training mode before your session starts.

Have your supplies in the same room! We tell our clients ahead of time what supplies they might need for the session. Have those items in the same room along with a bowl of water for your dog, extra treats and food, and a spot where your dog can take a quick break if needed. This will help you utilize your time to the fullest and create good habits for training sessions in the future.
