Animal Shelter

The local shelter is a good option to find a best friend and make room for another dog. The health and behavior history of the dog can often be unknown in these scenarios. If you can, take the dog out of kennel environment for a walk or free run so they can decompress and really shine!

Animal Rescue

Rescue orginizations are great places to get your new family member! The dogs are typically vetted and usually with a foster home until the dog is adopted. Rescues can give you a lot of information on the health and behavior if you need or want something specific like cat friendly, good with kids, apartment living, etc.

Dog Breeder

Do you dream of meeting the parents at the first date? A breeder might be the best choice! Breeders are a great option when you have specific needs and want the full history on your dog’s genetic background and start to life before you bring them home. Find a reputable breeder that does health testing, temperment testing, and can provide information on the pup’s early socialization.

Rehome from Private Party

Sometimes, you can luck out and hear from a friend of a friend that their cousin’s wife’s mom can’t take care of their pup anymore. These transfers of ownership can be emotional at times, but in the end, opening up your home to a new friend is always worth it.
